About this place

This white-washed fishing village is rightly nicknamed “the pearl of the Costa Brava”. It’s no wonder that the town was once filled with artists and writers like Dali, Picasso, Llorca & Josep Pla… it’s a masterpiece.

What to do

  • Take in the view from the Church of Santa Maria.
  • Walk through the Cap de Creu Natural Park.
  • Visit the Salvador Dali  Museum- definitely book in advance.
  • While you’re there, discover the area of Portlligat, the neighboring village and go for a swim in the Cala Portlligat.

Where to go

  • Go to any of these beaches: Platja Sa Conca, Platja es Llaner Gran, Platja del Ros, Platja de S’Alqueria.
  • Walk down the Carrer d’es Call street exploring the art galleries and gift shops.

Where to eat

  • Munch on a burille biscuit (it’s a locals delicacy) at Es Fornet Bakery.
  • Get a cold beer and some light bites at the Chiringuito Maritim Bar.
  • Es Baluard is the cutest little restaurant with windows overlooking the sea.
  • Compartir is unquestionably the best fine dining restaurant in town. Wherever you go, definitely try a fish “suquet” stew.

Fun fact

Dali used to have a pet elephant and a panther in Cadaques. How they were allowed and got them through those narrow streets if beyond us...
