The first thing you think about when you hear the word ‘carnaval’ might be Rio de Janeiro. But little do you know that carnaval also invades Barcelona with wild costumes and traditional activities throughout the city.

It’s a day when the city bursts with color, freedom, creativity and a little craziness ;) So go ahead and pack a funky costume and strut down the street.

Top Tip

Definitely check out the ‘calçotada popular’. It’s an authentic experience of eating charred green onions in a traditional romesco sauce with the rest of the town. It’s just the type of local experience you’re looking for on your holiday.
